“The Arlington Heights Park District continues to provide high-quality recreation areas for all to enjoy,” said Walker (D-Arlington Heights). “This funding will support ongoing improvements to expand and enhance community spaces that will be used for years to come.”

The Open Space Land Acquisition and Development grant program, administered through the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, is a cost-sharing program between state and local governments that helps communities fund land acquisition and development for parks and outdoor recreation projects.

OSLAD has become one of the most popular grant programs in Illinois, awarding $640 million for parks throughout the state since its establishment. In this latest round of funding supported by Walker, more than $55 million in state grants are being awarded for 100 park projects.
