Walker to chair the Senate Financial Institutions CommitteeSPRINGFIELD – State Senator Mark Walker, an experienced business executive and entrepreneur, will chair the Senate Financial Institutions Committee during the 104th General Assembly.

“Consumers must be protected from predatory business practices,” said Walker (D- Arlington Heights). “We expect our financial institutions to be accountable to the hardworking people of Illinois. At the same time, we must support innovation, health and growth as this industry evolves.”

Walker’s appointment to the position is a testament to his proficiency as an executive in the financial industry. He has over 25 years of experience engaging in regulatory compliance, community reinvestment projects and consulting.

As chair of the Senate Financial Institutions Committee, Walker will lead discussions on legislation regarding banks, credit unions and related establishments. Walker previously served as the chair of the Financial Institutions Committee in the Illinois House of Representatives, before being elected senator for the 27th District.

Walker’s financial expertise has led to similar roles, including vice chair of the Senate Revenue Committee and member of the Senate Insurance and Pensions Committees.

Walker will serve in these roles throughout the 104th General Assembly.
