SPRINGFIELD — State Senator Mark Walker (D-Arlington Heights) issued the following statement regarding Governor JB Pritzker’s proposed state budget for the upcoming fiscal year:
“The rising cost of living is a challenge facing families in my district and across the state. Governor Pritzker’s proposal aims to help those who have to balance the increased cost of essentials, including health care, with supporting their families for the long term. During budget deliberations, I will prioritize financial security and stability for all Illinois families.
“We should never walk away from opportunities to invest in our future, despite current fiscal challenges. The governor’s proposal to continue investments into new and rising industries is a responsible decision that will promote long-term development and bring an influx of jobs to the state.
“With expected reductions in federal funding, services and protections for our residents, we must be very careful in how we spend the funds our taxpayers provide. Governor Pritzker has proposed a balanced and responsible approach as a starting point, and I look forward to working with my colleagues to solidify a balanced budget that best serves the people of Illinois.”
