SPRINGFIELD — Correcting an injustice dating back over 170 years, State Senator Mark Walker’s legislation returning state-owned lands to the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation was signed into law Friday, March 21.
“This landmark legislation puts Illinois on the right side of history — fostering a partnership with Indigenous communities and returning what was wrongfully acquired,” said Walker (D-Arlington Heights). “I have worked with the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation on this bill since 2018, and today we celebrate this achievement together.”

SPRINGFIELD – State Senator Mark Walker, an experienced business executive and entrepreneur, will chair the Senate Financial Institutions Committee during the 104th General Assembly.
“Consumers must be protected from predatory business practices,” said Walker (D- Arlington Heights). “We expect our financial institutions to be accountable to the hardworking people of Illinois. At the same time, we must support innovation, health and growth as this industry evolves.”
Walker’s appointment to the position is a testament to his proficiency as an executive in the financial industry. He has over 25 years of experience engaging in regulatory compliance, community reinvestment projects and consulting.

SPRINGFIELD — State Senator Mark Walker was sworn in Wednesday as the Illinois Senate began the 104th General Assembly.
“There is much work ahead to bring us all together, build on our state’s economic potential and ensure fiscal stability through balanced budgets,” said Walker (D-Arlington Heights). “I look forward to tackling these challenges and continuing to represent my community in Springfield.”
Walker joined the Senate in May 2024 after serving in the Illinois House for more than four years. He has focused on small business reforms and legislation improving and expanding Illinois’ diverse and innovative economy
As senator for the 27th District, Walker represents a portion of the Northwest Suburbs, including Arlington Heights, Mount Prospect, Prospect Heights and Rolling Meadows.
ARLINGTON HEIGHTS — The Arlington Heights Park District received a $600,000 Open Space Land Acquisition and Development grant to support ongoing improvement projects, State Senator Mark Walker announced Thursday.
“The Arlington Heights Park District continues to provide high-quality recreation areas for all to enjoy,” said Walker (D-Arlington Heights). “This funding will support ongoing improvements to expand and enhance community spaces that will be used for years to come.”
